RESTORATIVE JUSTIVE PROGRAM
RESTORATIVE JUSTICE PROGRAM: SEE HUGE IMPACT
We invite volunteers to try this life-impacting and faith-affirming program. olunteers can start by assisting a facilitator at a table for the week of the Restorative Justice Course. The week requires 36 hours full-time at the selected prison, from 8 to 3pm each day plus one full Saturday for Victim/Family and Prisoner Meet-ups. Then if the volunteer is trained in counselling a further 1 hour per week for 10 weeks of one-on-one counselling is available if you would like to get involved.
COUNSELLING
COUNSELLING: A LIFE-CHANGING JOURNEY
We invite volunteers to join us on this valuable journey. Potential counsellors must have counselling training and be available for 1 hour per week for 6 weeks for each client. Of course each journey can involve more steps in which case volunteers will be asked to commit further, while supported by our counselling supervisors who will give you the full support that you need.
COMMUNITY PROGRAMS
See your volunteer time and skills turn into renewal and healing for our communities. Be part of our Hope for Kids Restorative Justice Team, who work with the children of our female Restorative Justice participants. Help organise Kids Soccer competitions between warder’s kids and victim’s families, run bake sale fundraisers, or build mentoring relationships through computer lessons and tutoring. Join in a community builder or brainstorm your own and lead it through Hope Prison Ministry, we would love to support your idea.

NEVA MACGREGOR

“When I retired, I studied counselling then did my practical at Hope Prison Ministry. Reverend Clayton invited me to be part of the Restorative Justice process and his enthusiasm, energy and gift for prison ministry inspired me. The first time I facilitated was in a female prison, but since then I’ve worked in most of the male prisons in the Western Cape” – ThisLife Magazine
JEN CLAMPETT

“I was an inexperienced, somewhat elderly, white woman with not a whole lot to offer in this situation – or so I thought. I prayed for God to go with me and to work through me. In all the time I’ve been involved with it, I’ve never once felt anxious, only appreciated. It has proved to be the most rewarding, life-giving time of my life!” – Jen as told to ThisLife Magazine
