“We must begin to believe that God, in the mystery of prayer, has entrusted us with a force that can move the Heavenly world, and can bring its power down to earth.” — Andrew Murray
The best programs and teachers have little effect without the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit transforming lives from the inside out. As followers of Christ, we can access this power through prayer.
Hope Prison Ministry’s teams can offer a limited range of programs for a few hours a week, but our students face a spiritual battle 24/7. Prayer can impact the prison long after our teams have left. Correctional officers notice this change and have reported to us that violence and tensions among inmates drop after a prayer walk, even in centres with significant gang activity.
What we pray is important, but where we pray can also make a difference. If you live locally, will you consider joining our Prayer Walk team? Every month on the first Thursday evening, as many as 200 volunteers from 40 different churches gather to walk and pray through one of the five correctional centres at Pollsmoor. No previous experience is required, and all are welcome.
Please contact us for more information about the Pollsmoor prayer walks, or if you would like to help us start prayer walks at another correctional centre in the greater Cape Town or Boland regions.
